TRAVEL

I love to travel, and more often than not, I have a historical, literary or scifi/fantasy theme in mind. I usually go to museums with historical significance, places that my favorite authors hail from and film and TV locations.

My most adventurous trip to date was in 2006 for a Lord of the Rings tour of New Zealand. For more information, photos, and a travelogue, visit my New Zealand 2006 web page.

You can also find out more about my UK 2007 trip when I went to see the Lord of the Rings musical in London. I also went to Wales to explore Cardiff (and the Doctor Who Museum) and Portmeirion (where the Prisoner was filmed).

A wedding in Portugal in 2008 brought me to the magical town of Sintra and the historic city of Lisbon. More stories and photos are in my Portugal 2008 web page.

My honeymoon in 2012 was a tour of Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) with lots of geek-worthy moments. There were also exhibits commemorating the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. I finally got to see bonny Scotland and the medieval town of York. Go to my Jean and Christopher’s Honeymoon 2012 web page for more information.

Germany was a storybook land and I enjoyed seeing Baden-Baden, Neuschwanstein Castle and Munich. Southern Germany was quintessentially German and the towns and landscapes were picturesque. My stories and photos are at: Germany 2013.
